Daylong Two-Thirds Enlightened is Enough

  • Pima Friends Meeting House 931 North 5th Avenue Tucson, AZ, 85705 United States (map)

Two-Thirds Enlightened is Enough

The freedom from suffering spoken of in the 3rd Noble Truth may be considered in three ways: (1) The immediate cessation of suffering right in the moment when we meet our experience with more skillful awareness; (2) The gradual, steady, and validating reduction of suffering that comes over time as we walk the path; (3) The final uprooting of ignorance and craving, the total destruction of greed, hatred, and confusion, Nirvana.

While the last of these can seem unrelatable and impossibly far off, the first two can be experienced right here and now. And encountering these tangible moments of freedom can energize our practice with encouragement, optimism, and confidence. In this day of practice we will explore immediate and gradual liberation as integral parts of the path toward full awakening.

Come join local Insight Meditation of Tucson teachers, David Bornstein an Terry Magee, for a day of teachings and practices. The day will consist of sitting and walking meditation, inquiry process, Q&A, and Dharma teaching. Bring whatever sitting gear supports you and please bring your lunch to offer continuity of practice. You are welcome to bring a snack or tea to share.
