““Equanimity is a state of non-agitation, and non-resistance to what’s here. It is the crown jewel of practice.””
Meditation Daylong with
David Bornstein
IMT Dharma Leader
Summer is long in Tucson! Temperatures climb to triple digits in May, and pretty much stay there into October. And we could say our world is on fire: fear-mongering, brutality, war, and injustice are flaring all over the earth. Is it possible to remain balanced? How do we find inner coolness amid such churning turmoil?
The Buddha’s spoke often about Equanimity, Upekkha in Pali. Equanimity is both a practice, and the fruit of practice. Described as “balance,” “equipoise,” and “unperturbability,” equanimity cools the fire of our habitual reactivity, bringing with it a measure of inner peace, regardless of the conditions that surround us.
This daylong will include dharma teaching, practice instruction, ample time for sitting and walking meditation, and practice discussion.
