Anna and beloved teacher Papaji
IMT founder Anna Douglas lived a long, rich, fascinating life: Buddhist practitioner and teacher, clinical psychologist, actress, painter, yogi, world traveler, mentor, friend. Like all of us, she accumulated objects that reflected who she was and what she cared about. She left instructions for us to carry out two big final acts of generosity regarding her estate.
First she wished for her home to be opened to the IMT sangha so that anyone who wished to could select meaningful items that once belonging to her, like the photo above. In keeping with how she lived, she is once more generously sharing what she had.
Second, she wished for this Estate Open House to function as a fundraiser to seed a new Residential Retreat Scholarship Program! Anna knew the power of residential silent meditation retreats to fuel our dharma practice, and she encouraged her students to undertake them. She also understood that going on retreat is a privilege that is financially out of reach for so many. Pieces from Anna’s home may be claimed in exchange for a donation of any amount.

FUNDRAISING GOAL: $10,000!
The cost of residential retreats varies depending on where and how long they are. The scholarship is intended to cover costs of: registration for a weeklong retreat, travel, teacher danā, and a small stipend for missed work. Based on retreat costs at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in CA, Insight Meditation Society in MA, and Vallecitos in NM, each scholarship will be in the amount of $5,000. Our goal for this fundraiser is to cover the cost of two scholarships. Ambitious!
DONATION MATCHING
An anonymous sangha member has offered a dollar-for-dollar match for every donation received, doubling the power of your gift! WOW!
