Beginner's Drop-In Meditation Group (Central Tucson)

  • Pima Friends Meeting House 931 North 5th Avenue Tucson, AZ, 85705 United States (map)
It turns out meditation is a lot easier than people think, we just haven’t been taught how to do it.
— Jack Kornfield

The practice of mindfulness meditation is often described as simple but not easy. “Notice your breath;” what could be more straightforward? But anyone who has tried this finds their mind is like an untamed animal, running everywhere, refusing to follow directions! This often leads to self-judgment, a sense of failure, or worst of all, giving up.

The popularity of mindfulness has soared in recent years, and there are now countless meditation apps and YouTube videos, which can be a great place to start. But there is no substitute for an experienced teacher offering clear instructions, encouragement, and helpful suggestions.

This group meets on the first Monday of every month. Each session includes guided meditation, brief teaching on the benefits of mindfulness practice, and discussion. Suitable for new and experienced meditators who wish to learn the Buddha’s instructions for developing mindfulness.
