At Peace in the World
with Senior Dharma Teacher Howard Cohn
Saturday & Sunday, May 2-3, 2026

Howard has a special connection to Tucson and to IMT: he's a UA graduate, he still has family here, and he and IMT founder Anna Douglas were close friends for over forty years. Anna and Howard also share the honor of being two of the first five participants in Spirit Rock's inaugural Dharma Teacher Training Program.

Here is what Howard plans to offer us at this retreat:

Presently, due to war, polarization, greed, and cruelty, the world is neither peaceful nor harmonious. We may feel heartbroken or angry. Although we don’t have a peaceful world, each of us can be at peace in the world. Inner peace does not depend on circumstances, but on how we relate to those circumstances.

On this retreat we will practice the two most important ways to meet our life peacefully: with wisdom and love. Using the time-tested practices of Vipassana and Mettā (loving kindness) Meditation, we can strengthen our minds and soften our hearts, allowing us to more peacefully navigate this wondrous world.

The weekend will consist of sitting and walking meditation, Q&A, and Dharma teaching. Open to both new and experienced practitioners.
