When most humans reach the end of life and reflect––whenever that is––we don’t usually ask, “Did I get enough done?” or “How well did I craft my emails?” or “How do I look lying in this bed?” The questions tend to be “Did I love well?” or “Did I learn to let go?” In the words of Jack Kornfield, “If we have not learned to do so, we suffer greatly, and when we get to the end of our life, we may have what is called a crash course.”
In practicing Insight Meditation, we come to see that loving and letting go can be the same thing. The simple technique of noticing and allowing has been called bringing a loving awareness to the present moment. Clearly seeing what is happening and accepting it, empowers us to let go of the wish for something else.
Come join local Insight Meditation of Tucson teacher, David Bornstein, in this day of practice, you will have many opportunities to meet your present-time experience with loving awareness. The day will consist of sitting and walking meditation, an exploration, Q&A, and Dharma teaching. Bring whatever sitting gear supports you and please bring your lunch to offer continuity of practice. You are welcome to bring a snack or tea to share. A refrigerator and a microwave will be available.
