“The Buddha introduced mindfulness of breathing as a sublime way of practice that quickly leads to the overcoming of unwholesome states, like a heavy rain that will make any dust quickly disappear.”
~The Ven. Bhikkhu Analayo
Insight Meditation Tucson teacher David Bornstein will share teachings and practices from a retreat he just attended that was taught by Buddhist monk, scholar, and teacher, the Venerable Bhikkhu Analayo.
Noticing the breath is perhaps the most familiar, elemental, and simple practice we are given for meditation. The modesty of this instruction does not hint at the depth of what develops for us when we undertake it. Indeed, following the breath can be like a wave we ride right to the to center of all we experience as humans—the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual — bringing us into wise relationship with it.
The day will consist of sitting and walking meditation, mindful inquiry, Q&A, and Dharma teaching.
